The contribution concerns the methodology for the reconstructive study of ancient monuments with particular reference to the concept of Virtual Anastylosis. This contribution illustrates the work carried out within the project of the exhibition "Living in Selinunte, from the origins to the Middle Ages", with particular reference to the virtual reconstruction of the North Gate and the FF1 block.

This review include the data concerning the presence of representations of fungi since prehistoric times. Particular attention is paid to their use in magical rituals, in nutrition and as a remedy for certain diseases. The work also examines some examples of megaliths whose shape recalls that of a mushroom, and the role of mushrooms in anthracological studies. Finally, data on the presence of mushrooms, some of them rare, of reforested areas and residual dune systems within the Archaeological Park of Selinunte are reported.

Orfeo o Tamiri? Cantori traci in Sicilia

Orpheus and Thamyris are connected on the literary and iconographic levels, but reveal several divergencies as well. On an early Sicilian krater and an early Paestan hydria from Selinous, the depictions of Orpheus and Thamyris respectively allow us to reconsider the significance of the two singers as symbol of the Thracian music, in the Sicilian context and evaluate the use of these figurative subjects on Sicilian vases. The identity of the two musicians is not clearcut; the focal point is the music, in particular the Thracian, which acquires a divine and regenerating value in relation to the theme of the Underworld.
La cornice Ionica del tempio G di Selinunte. Rilievo e interpretazione per la ricostruzione virtuale.

This research is focused on the virtual reconstruction of the Ionic cornice of temple G of Selinunte, as a case study for the definition of a virtual reconstruction method of collapsed walls elements in archaeological contexts. The complexity of the ruins of the temple suggested a thorough archaeological analysis of the fragments of the Ionic cornice that made it possible to identify traces of the construction process left by stonecutters during the worksite such as unfinished surfaces.
